AGORA PRS | February 7th

Dear all,

We are pleased to announce AGORA Progress Reports (AGORA PRS) Special Seminar by Prof. Sebastian Waszak, next Tuesday, February 7th.

Prof. Waszak is the Head of the Computational Oncology Group at the Centre for Molecular Medicine Norway, University of Oslo, and an Associate Adjunct Professor of Neurology at the University of California, San Francisco. Prof. Waszak completed his postdoctoral training in cancer genomics at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory and obtained his PhD in Bioengineering & Biotechnology from the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne. His research group studies the genetic basis and cellular origin of pediatric brain tumours, develops novel technologies for brain tumour diagnostics, and applies translational genomics to improve therapy for patients with DIPG/DMG. The Prof. Waszak published 70 manuscripts in basic and clinical research journals, discovered novel genetic tumour syndromes, and identified novel molecular mechanisms that predispose to pediatric brain tumours. His work resulted in updated clinical practice guidelines, amendments to clinical study protocols, and novel entities in the WHO Classification of Central Nervous System Tumours and Genetic Tumour Syndromes. Prof. Waszak is a member of the DIPG/DMG National Brain Tumor Board, the joint UCSF/Kinderspital Zurich DMG Tumor Board, and precision medicine trials within the Pacific Pediatric Neuro-Oncology Consortium (pnoc.us).
